Susie Hyer
Susie Hyer has attended art curriculums at Moravian University, the Baum School of Art, the University of West Florida, and the Art Students League of Denver, She travels frequently in order to study and paint directly from nature, then works from sketches, studies and photos in the studio. American southwest landscapes are a particular favorite. Perhaps it’s because she was told, after taking aptitude tests in the eighth grade, that “I was best suited for work as a cowboy or park ranger.” Her home and studio are in Evergreen, CO. Surrounded by Ponderosa forests and mountains, wildlife visits are more than frequent, providing endless inspiration and enjoyment.
Working as a professional artist since 1976, she has been fortunate to have been the recipient of many scholarships, grants, and awards and has received signature membership in both the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society. Recently Susie was honored to receive the Comenius Award for lifetime achievement from Moravian University
