Interactive learning displays and other hands-on activities await visitors of all ages into our wildly popular kids room. Whether you're a young cowpoke looking to try your hand at roping or a young cowgirl wanting to try your hand at hide painting or other crafts, the CFD Old West Museum offers a safe, family friendly environment in which visitors of all ages can learn about our region's western heritage. The kids room remains open daily and is available for party rentals for birthdays.

Kids' Cowboy Festival
June 12, 2010

Bring the whole family to the CFD Old West Museum for the 14th Annual Kids’ Cowboy Festival Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CFD Old West Museum. This FREE event features western entertainment and western crafts including hide painting, branding, quilting, beading, and much, much more. Children are encouraged to wear western attire and compete in the “Best Dressed Buckaroo” contest. Kids' Western Art Camp
July 5-9, 2010
Children (K-6) are invited to participate in a week-long Western Art Camp Monday July 5 – Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. The camp includes workshops in ceramics, acrylic painting, pencil, sculpture and collage. Students will complete an original work of art in all media. An opening reception and Art Show for the children's work will be held. $150 for members, $175 for non-members. Registration deadline is two weeks before the beginning of camp. Kids' Western Folk Art Camp
August 9-13, 2010
Children (K-6) are invited to participate in a week-long Folk Art Camp Monday August 9 – Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. Learn from the masters! The best folk-artists in the region will teach traditional Western crafts and customs: weaving, beading, felt treasures, leather-tooling, horse-hair hitching, music and much more! Open for all children ages K-6. Sack lunches are required. $150 for members, $175 for non-members. Registration deadline is two weeks before the beginning of camp. Ghosts of the West
October 23, 2010
Join the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum for some good old fashioned Halloween fun on Saturday October 23rd from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tour the Museum, meet historic western characters, go on a scavenger hunt and create a trick or treat bag. Enjoy cookies, cider, candy and show off your costume. Bring in your best carved pumpkin for a Jack O’ Lantern contest!
It’s free for children under 12, as well for Museum members.
Non-Museum member parents are just $5.00.
